Man fails in attempt to outrun police

Stephen Richard Chartraw, 32, of 54 Buhl Court, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. at Connelly Boulevard and Walnut Street on charges of drunken driving, fleeing and eluding a police officer and possession of a controlled substance, police said. They said they saw Chartraw’s car speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. He would not pull over, police said.

When police finally stopped Chartraw, he told police he had marijuana under the seat of his car and gave them permission to search for it.
