HARRISBURG -- A trio of Mercer County lawmakers have compiled a hit list of a half-dozen projects they want to obtain funding for in the next state budget.
State Reps. Rod Wilt, R-Sugar Grove Township, 17th District and Dick Stevenson, R-Grove City, 8th District and Sen. Robert Robbins, R-Salem Township, 50th District, have all agreed to push for funding for the projects as they engage in negotiations over budget votes with legislative leaders and Gov. Tom Ridge. The projects are in the eastern and northern parts of Mercer County.
The lawmakers want to obtain funding commitments for the projects as part of the appropriation for the state Department of Community and Economic Development, said Wilt this week.
The $20.8 billion state budget will be voted upon either later this month or in early June.
The projects include:
$350,000 for a new roof for the Greenville business incubator
$250,000 as the state share of a new football/soccer stadium at Thiel College. The stadium would have artificial turf and be used to host regional sporting events.
$29,900 to produce a county wide map for the Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
$150,000 to Stoneboro Water Authority to make a connection to Lakeview High School.
$200,000 to Greenville Municipal Authority to expand water capacity on the east side of Greenville and in Hempfield Township. The expansion would ensure that Greenville Hospital’s sprinkler system has enough water.
$250,000 to Greene Township for a new municipal building.
$500,000 for Jamestown Water Authority.
