GREENVILLE

Father waives hearing on child endangerment

Child endangerment charges against a Greenville father were bound to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Daniel Barger, 27, of 102 N. High St., Greenville, Thursday waived his preliminary hearing before District Justice William L. Fagley, Greenville.

Greenville-West Salem Township police charged Barger with endangering the welfare of a child after his four-year-old son was spotted about 4 a.m. March 30 wandering on Clarksville Street, about a half mile from Barger's home. Police said a Hermitage woman picked up the boy and took him to the Greenville police station.

Barger was released after posting $5,000 unsecured bond. The boy is in the custody of his mother.
