FARRELL

Admitted shooter faces new drug charges

A Sharon man who admitted to shooting another man and possessing cocaine was arrested this morning on drug charges.

Eric W. Williams, 19, of 359 Connelly Blvd., Sharon, was arrested for possessing 19 rocks of crack cocaine at 1 a.m. in the alley off the 900 block of Fruit Avenue, Farrell, police said.

Police said they were checking the area for suspicious activity and saw Williams, formerly of Farrell, throw a plastic bag under a car and walk away.

Williams pleaded guilty in May to possession of cocaine. He was arrested Dec. 11 in the same alley by Mercer County sheriff's deputies who were looking for him on a warrant charging him with failing to appear in court.

Williams was out on bond at the time awaiting the resolution of charges that he shot Adrian J. Ivey of Farrell May 2, 2000, in the 700 block of Lee Avenue, Farrell.

Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the shooting and was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in Mercer County Jail.

He was fined costs in the May cocaine possession charge and $250 for skipping the court appearance.
