Multi-Service Center announces activities for July

During renovations, Shenango Valley Multi-Service Center will meet in Wheatland-Farrell United Methodist Church, 75 Mercer Ave., Wheatland.

Starting in July, balance exercises will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. every Tuesday in the center.

A bus trip to Warren to shop at Blair will leave at 7:45 a.m. July 18 and return at 6 p.m.

Special events will be a Senior Day set for July 10 at Mercer County Fair; and National Ice Cream Day July 13.

Other July activities include:

  • July 3 -- 10:45 a.m., installation of officers for 2001-02; Volunteer Recognition Day.

  • July 4 -- Center closed for Independence Day.

  • July 5 -- 11:15 a.m., pneumonia information by Marilyn McCall of A.M. Respirator Alliance.

  • July 12 -- 11:15 a.m., consumer scam update by Nancy Loughry of Mercer County Community Action Agency.

  • July 19 -- 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., chair massage; and 11 a.m., July birthday and anniversary party.

  • July 24 -- 9:30 a.m., eyeglass cleaning and minor repairs by Shirley Shanes of Keystone Blind Association.

    Daily activities are puzzles, games and handouts. Others include:

  • Monday -- 9:30 a.m., music therapy with Judy Christ.

  • Tuesday -- 9:30 a.m., blood pressure readings; 10:45 a.m., discussion group.

  • Wednesday -- 10:30 a.m., Tai Chi with Nick Gracenin.

  • Friday -- 10:30 a.m., exercise.

    The center is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch is served weekdays at 11:30 a.m.
