REYNOLDS

Grads' business cards inspire

By Erin Remai

Reynolds Superintendent Dr. Anthony Trosan was curious about where Reynolds graduates ended up after college.

So he ran a note in the last district newsletter, published in late November, asking for graduate business cards.

So far Trosan has received 35 business cards from former Reynolds students.

"I think what is most interesting to me is the diversity of occupations," Trosan said.

Occupations of the Reynolds graduates who sent in cards range from attorneys to contractors to bankers to computer professionals. One student is a veterinarian with the Toledo Zoo, another is a concierge at the St. Regis in Washington, D.C.

"These are all people who graduated from Reynolds, which is clearly a rural district," Trosan said. "But they do not all appear to be living in rural areas."

Trosan got the idea of collecting graduate business cards from Thiel College. He said he had gone to the college recently to meet with a professor and saw a binder filled with alumni business cards on the coffee table in the admissions office.

Students in the classes of 1976 and 1982 have sent in the most cards. Trosan said he has not received any cards from the class of 1990 and beyond.

Trosan said he would like to use the cards to show current Reynolds students that they can go on to a variety of different careers after high school and college.

"This says this district can be a good start. The jobs listed here are good jobs," Trosan said.

Trosan said the business cards could also possibly be used to plan high school reunions and to create contacts between the graduates and current students who have interests in their career fields.

"We're letting our kids know what they can become," Trosan said.

Reynolds graduates who wish to submit business cards can mail them to Dr. Anthony S. Trosan, Superintendent, 531 Reynolds Road, Greenville, 16125.
