Manpower reports promising job staffing levels ahead

Manpower Inc.'s second quarter employment outlook survey shows an encouraging job picture for the Sharon/New Castle area.

The survey found 27 percent of employers intend to add workers in April through June; 10 percent foresee staff cutbacks and 56 percent will remain unchanged. Seven percent are unsure.

In the same year-ago period, 33 percent said they would add staff while 13 percent predicted reductions. Twenty-seven percent said they would add staff three months ago while 20 percent indicated a reduction

Construction, wholesale and retail trade and service will be the most likely to hire during this time. Cutbacks are expected in education. Durable goods manufacturers voiced mixed intentions. Twenty-one percent of businesses nationally said they will continue to add workers; 10 percent expect decreases; 63 percent will be unchanged; and 6 percent are undecided.
