MERCER COUNTY

Lights back on, Penn Power says

Electricity was restored to all Pennsylvania Power Co. customers by 8 p.m. Monday, the utility said.

Power crews worked to restore power after a howling windstorm blew through the area Saturday night. At the height of the storm, 6,500 Penn Power customers were without electricity. By Monday morning, 160 customers throughout the county were without power .

Additional Penn Power crews were called in from Zelienople to help in the final push to restore power, said Randy Coleman, area manager for the utility. Repair efforts were slowed by savage winds in freezing temperatures.

"I credit our people for getting the work done as quickly as they did, given the weather conditions they had to deal with,'' Coleman said.
