Charges against a 19-year-old Masury man accused of assaulting a referee were held for Mercer County Common Pleas Court at a preliminary hearing Thursday, a clerk at District Justice James E. McMahon's office said.
A court date has not yet been set for Nathan Sample, 19, of 686 Hazelton St., who was arrested March 11 and released on his own recognizance on charges of assault on a sports official and disorderly conduct, police said.
Sample attended a Feb. 23 game at St. Joseph's School in Sharon between sixth-graders from Brookfield and St. Joseph's, police said. During the game, Sample went onto the floor, argued with an official, grabbed him and shoved him into the stands, police said.
After the incident, Sample left the game and later turned himself in, police said. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
