HERMITAGE

Hospice, palliative care office is open

Family Hospice and Palliative Care opened a new office in Hermitage to serve the needs and concerns of patents and their families.

The office is located at 701 N. Hermitage Road.

In March, Family Hospice and Palliative Care acquired the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System hospice program. This combination of resources will provide patients and families with a more comprehensive and innovative hospice and palliative care program.

Family Hospice and Palliative Care has been providing care and comfort to patents and their families since 1980.

Through two district programs -- hospice and palliative home care -- patients with life-limiting illnesses are provided comfort care with a focus on pain and symptom management. Both programs support the patient as well as the family and provide a holistic approach to care.

The goal of Family Hospice and Palliative Care services is to guide patients and their loved ones through various physical, emotional, spiritual and practical situations. With these programs, patents can remain at home, or in a home-like environment in peace, comfort and dignity.

Family Hospice and Palliative Care has four corporate participants: Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System, St. Clair Hospital, and South Hills Interfaith Ministries.
