Dairy Princess wannabes invited to tea

Mercer County Dairy Princess Kim Voorhies is hosting an informational tea for girls interested in competing for the title in 2002-03 at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Leslie N. Firth Learning Center, north of Mercer on U.S. Route 19.

Local girls aged 16 to 24 from a dairy background or employed at dairy-related businesses such as Dairy Queens, ice cream stands, cheese factories, feed stores or implement dealerships are eligible.

Mercer County Dairy Princess represents the county in promoting the dairy industry. Duties include attending fairs, doing school and store promotions, attending various organizations, writing news articles, and more.

The winner will be chosen June 18. She will attend a training seminar in July and participate in the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Coronation in September.
