Angler nearly drowns in creek that killed 3

An unidentified angler nearly drowned Tuesday in Slippery Rock Creek near the spot where two fire department divers and the kayaker they were trying to save drowned last year.

Three people were fishing along the creek in Perry Township, Lawrence County, when one of them fell off Harris Bridge, within McConnell's Mill State Park, according to media reports. Lawrence County Dispatch Center said Perry Township fire department and Portersville rescue responded to the call which came in around 5:15 p.m.

The person was pulled out of the creek and flown to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, for treatment. The victim had not been released earlier today.
