Man hit with gun charges after firing pistol, cops say
A Mercer-area man was charged with illegal possession of a gun and carrying a gun without a license after firing a 9 mm Beretta in the parking lot of a bar on the south side of New Castle, New Castle police said.
Rodney J. Suszynski, 28, of 493 Hartwick Road, Findley Township, was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Saturday at North Ray and Court streets after he went into a friend's truck with a woman, found his friend's gun and shot a couple of rounds out of the truck's window, New Castle police said.
He was arraigned on the charges, which also included public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, according to a New Castle police report, was put on $15,000 bond and taken to Lawrence County Jail.
Police also found Suszynski was wanted on a separate warrant for simple assault, defiant trespass, and harassment issued by District Justice Melissa Amodie, New Castle, for a March 25 incident in the city. On those charges, bond was set at $1,000. Preliminary hearings on both cases are set for Friday in Ms. Amodie's court.
