City to have new community development director on June 1

The City of Sharon will have a new community development director starting June 1.

Rosette Fisher, the assistant community development director, has been promoted to fill the position left vacant by outgoing director Joseph A. Caminiti, said Mayor David O. Ryan. Caminiti is retiring after 29 years of service.

Mrs. Fisher has worked for the city for 22 years. "I've held every position in our department," she said, noting she served as acting director two times for the city.

"I'm excited. I'm looking forward to some new endeavors and carrying out past programs," she said. "I'm also looking forward to working with the new administration."

Mrs. Fisher said she plans to write grant applications for some projects Ryan and council are looking into. Ryan said he would like to see the city be more aggressive in going after federal funds. "I think she can handle the job," Ryan said. He added it was good that the city didn't have to look too far for a replacement for Caminiti.

"Joe has been an excellent community development director. He has a vast knowledge of what the department entails," Ryan said. "He's gonna be missed."
