Family and friends are invited to center

Sandy Lake Senior Community Center, a division of Mercer County Area Agency on Aging Inc., 29 Railroad St., announces its June activities.

In conjunction with Family & Friends Day, a special event with music will be held June 14, with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For those over 60, there is a $2 fee and for those under 60, a $4 fee.

Watercolor paintings by Rachel Griffin will be on display in June in Transit Fine Arts Gallery, 206 Seneca St., Oil City. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A reception for Ms. Griffin is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 17.

  • Wednesday -- 11:15 a.m., "Herbal Supplements to Your Health" with Kathy Wenzel.

  • Thursday -- 8:30 a.m., Mercer County Senior Games Shuffleboard Tournament.

  • Friday -- 9:30 a.m., Departure for Carousel trip; and 11:20 a.m., "Plan to Survive" a tornado with Jim Thompson.

  • June 6 -- 9 a.m., Program Committee meeting; and 11:15 a.m., "Avon Collection" by Gladys Everhart.

  • June 7 -- 10 a.m., Seniorcise; and 11:15 a.m., Mercer County Dairy Princess with Kim Voorhies.

  • June 10 -- 11:20 a.m., Horse racing.

  • June 11 -- 11 a.m., Blood pressure screening with Life Force Ambulance Service; and 11:20 a.m., Pet Gallery/Photos.

  • June 12 -- 11:20 a.m., Tutti Fruiti.

  • June 13 -- 11:15 a.m., Father's Day program.

  • June 14 -- 11 a.m., Special music by Bob Zahnizer and Leo Liska; and 7 p.m., parade. Last day for the ice chest raffle.

  • June 17 -- 11:20 a.m., "Reducing Junk Mail" with Nancy Loughry from Mercer County Community Action Agency.

  • June 18 -- 11:20 a.m., Poetry Day.

  • June 19 -- 11:20 a.m., Sing-along.

  • June 20 -- 11:15 a.m., Birthday and anniversary party with music by Ken and Terry Tenney. Notify the reservation table attendant if your name has been missed on the birthday/anniversary list.

  • June 21 -- 10:15 a.m., Seniorcise; and 11:20 a.m., Family (table) Feud.

  • June 24 -- 11:20 a.m., Joke Day.

  • June 25 -- 11:20 a.m., "Alzheimer's Disease" video.

  • June 26 -- 11:20 a.m., Wheel of Fortune.

  • June 27 -- 11:15 a.m., Bingo.

  • June 28 -- 10:15 a.m., Seniorcise; and 11:20 a.m., Special music with Ray and Nancy DeVault.

    Daily schedule includes:

  • Monday -- 10:15 a.m., Seniorcise; and 1 p.m. Bridge

  • Tuesday -- 9 a.m. Shuffleboard.

  • Wednesday -- 10:30 a.m., Seniorcise; 1 p.m., Tai Chi.

    Upcoming trips and payment due dates include:

  • July 4 -- "Firecracker Cruise," May 30.

  • Sept. 12-13 -- "Daniel," July 29.

  • Nov. 2-7 -- Branson, Mo., Oct. 15.

  • Dec. 15 -- Christmas in Akron, Nov. 14.

    Lunch is available daily at noon with prior two-day-ahead reservation.

    Transportation is available. Call Mercer County Community Transit at (800) 222-8797 by 2 p.m., 24 hours in advance.

    The paving project is in need of $2,700. Donations, which are tax-deductible, will be appreciated.

    Members are also asked to donate plastic sandwich bags for serving bread, or donate $1.06 to Joan Segaty, who will buy them.
