Tips help cops nail 3 on drug charges

Acting on two telephone tips, police arrested three people on drug charges Wednesday.

The first call came in at 4 p.m. that someone was using drugs in front of the Point After Bar, 999 George St., police said. The caller gave a detailed description of two people and the car they were in, police said.

Police said they saw Gisella Vanmeter Marcocia, 35, of 265 Boyd Drive, Hermitage, and Shawn Hailstock, 40, of 669 Sherman Ave., Sharon, smoking crack in a car parked outside the bar, police said.

Ms. Marcocia was charged with possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe, and Hailstock was charged with possession of a crack pipe, police said.

At 4:30 p.m., another call came in, saying, "You missed the guy who had the crack cocaine," said Police Chief Joseph Timko.

The caller said this man was selling crack, police said, adding they do not know if the callers were the same person.

The caller gave a detailed description of the man, who had slipped into the bar just as police arrived, police said.

Police said they found Carlos L. Summers, 32, of 190 S. Myers Ave., Sharon, in the men's room.

"We said, come out, we want to talk to you," Timko said.

Although Summers argued that police didn't want him, police took his arm to escort him out of the room, Timko said.

At the bathroom door, Summers dropped a bag of crack, police said.

Another rock of crack was found in Summers' pocket, police said.

Summers was charged with possession of crack, police said.

"We appreciate the fact that someone cared enough to call us," Timko said, praising the detailed descriptions the callers gave.
