Princesses wind up local dairy promotion

June Dairy Month will come to a close this weekend. The Mercer County Dairy Promotion Committee and Steese's Ice Cream are teaming for a celebration that you won't want to miss. On Friday and Saturday you can get a free scoop of ice cream with any food purchase when you visit Steese's Restaurant between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m.

While there you will have the opportunity to visit with the current and outgoing Mercer County Dairy Princess, Kimberly Voorhies. Kim is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Voorhies, Stoneboro. Kim plays an active part on her family's dairy farm doing the milking each morning. Kim is also employed at Steese's Restaurant. Kim, who has reigned as the 2001-2002 Mercer County Dairy Princess, will be completing her reign this weekend. The newly crowned princess, Maggie Moore, of Mercer, will officially begin her duties on July 1.

Please take advantage of this great opportunity to celebrate June Dairy Month by treating yourself to a delicious cool treat. And please remember to congratulate Kim Voorhies on a great year of promoting dairy products in Mercer County.
