Small Ships Revue set for Friday launch

SHARON --Small Ships Revue sets sail for its 22nd year with a parade through downtown Sharon at 6 p.m. Friday.

The parade precedes the "anything that floats" race at 7 p.m. in which crews of amateur sailors ride the waves of the Shenango River to vie for $5,000 in prizes.

There is no admission charge or entry fee.

Once the well runs dry on the Small Ships Revue, the focus moves to land for the Red Hot Fest on the grounds of the 3 By the River restaurant complex.

The Hern Brothers band rocks in the classic way at 8 p.m., and fireworks fill the sky at 10 p.m.

Velveeta will spoil cheesy favorites in the Hot Rod Cafe, and Simply Ed makes karaoke simple in the Quaker Steak and Lube.
