Police called
to teen brawl

A 75-person crowd gathered and failed to disperse, blocking the street at 10 p.m. Wednesday as a group of teen-agers' fighting spilled from Freddie Fresh's club at 160 West State St. onto the downtown Sharon sidewalk and street.

Police said they don't know why five teens -- a 13-year-old, a 15-year-old and two 17-year-olds from Sharon as well as a 16-year-old from Farrell, began the brawl.

The crowd gathered and Sharon police responded to the scene, calling Hermitage and Southwest Mercer County Regional departments for backup. Police closed the youth dance club for the rest of the evening.

Police said the crowd was disorderly and failed to disperse.

The two-part incident, which started in front of the club, later continued on South Dock Street and Wayne Place as police tried to break up the crowd.

No one was injured in the incident.

The teens were cited for rioting, failure to disperse upon official order and disorderly conduct. All five were arrested, released to their parents and petitioned to juvenile court.

Sharon police are investigating.

The club's owner refused to comment.
