Man hurt in crash to face
drunken driving charge

A Lackawannock Township man who was hurt in a one-car crash Thursday morning, was charged today by Hermitage police with drunken driving, police said.

Albert Bortner, Jr., 26, of 76 Roman Drive, was hurt in the crash at 12:45 am. on South Neshannock Road near Wise Road in Hermitage, police said. Police say his blood alcohol level was at 0.177.

Bortner was thrown from his car after his car hit a plastic culvert and flipped, police said.

He was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System and flown to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh where he was taken to the trauma unit to undergo surgery. Police said Bortner had a pelvic fracture, a collapsed lung and cuts on his liver.

Bortner was in fair condition this morning, according to a hospital spokesperson.
