Officials at United Way of Mercer County are preparing to kick off the 2002 fund-raising campaign with the annual Restaurant Revue.

This year's campaign goal is $1,150,000. The goal is $130,000 more than last year's goal and is "very, very aggressive," said James Micsky, executive director of the United Way of Mercer County.

Restaurant Revue, the traditional start of the yearly United Way campaign, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at The Rosemont banquet and conference center, 200 Sterling Ave., Sharon.

This year some of the featured dishes will be stuffed eggplant, roast pork tenderloin in orange mango sauce, Hawaiian salmon, prime rib au jus, stuffed banana peppers, crab-stuffed mushrooms and haluski.

Eighteen local businesses will participate in the event. Those from Sharon are Chestnut Street Cafe, Daffin's Candies, Key Catering, Quaker Steak & Lube, The Rosemont, Shenango Valley Civic Center and The Wave. Businesses from Hermitage are Hickory VFW and Normandy Banquet Center, Magnotto's Hermitage Shop 'n Save, Philadelphia Candies, Laurie's Homestyle Dressings and Red Lobster.
