Wind blamed for scattered power outages Friday night

Windy conditions caused handfuls of customers in the Mercer County area to lose power Friday night.

Randal J. Coleman, area manager for Pennsylvania Power Co., said though he didn't have causes for all of the outages, mostly likely they were all caused by wind.

"It's going to be that kind of night," Coleman said. He said crews would work most of the night to restore power.

Twenty-seven customers in Hermitage lost power, 50 in Sandy Lake, nine in West Middlesex, one in Greenville and 59 in Andover, Coleman said.

In Sharpsville, 17 customers were without electricity but power was restored before 8:30 p.m., Coleman said.

Coleman said most of the outages were expected to be fixed within three to four hours.
