Employees at Cianci's Corner Dairy in Greenville were just preparing to close up Saturday night when a man wearing a black ski mask stepped inside the store. It was just before 9 p.m.

Waving a large revolver, the man shouted, "This is a stick-up. Give me your money."

"He seemed very brave," said an employee who identified herself only as Barb.

She was working the cash register that night.

She said she and another employee stood in disbelief as the gunman ordered them to open the cash register. She handed over a bank deposit bag containing a "sizable amount" of cash.

The man also took several cartons of Newport King cigarettes. Then as quickly as he came in, he ran out in the direction of Stewart Avenue, said Greenville-West Salem Township police.

Barb, who has worked part time at Cianci's for three years, said she'd never witnessed a robbery nor ever personally been robbed at gunpoint, alhough lately the store has suffered a rash of attempted after-hours break-ins.

"My stomach is still queasy," she said Monday evening. "I was very glad it was myself and not a younger employee. If it had to happen to anybody, it should have been me. I don't think I panicked."

Police brought in dogs that night to help them track the gunman, but he remained at large Monday night.

The deposit bag is from First National Bank of Pennsylvania. It is blue with Cianci Corner Dairy written on it.

The robber is believed to be a white man in his late teens or early 20s and is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, police said. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded pullover sweatshirt, a black ski mask and dark, flannel-like pants, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Greenville-West Salem police at (724) 588-4190 or to stop at the station at 125 Main St., Greenville. The station is open 24 hours a day.
