with shooting
man at party

A Warren, Ohio, man charged with shooting a Sharon man at a birthday party a year ago in Farrell, was arrested Friday at the office of District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, police said.

Police said they identified Solomon Owens, 24, as the alleged shooter of Robert T. Mosley, 29, within weeks after the Nov. 1, 2001, incident, but had to wait while Owens was prosecuted on unrelated Ohio charges.

Owens was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and a firearms violation, said Southwest Mercer County Regional police, who announced the arrest Monday.

Owens and Mosley were attending the party at the former C. Browns Banquet Center, 300 Roemer Blvd., when they argued briefly, police said. Owens pulled a .25-caliber pistol and fired at about 12:30 a.m., police said.

Owens fled after the shooting, police said.

The men were believed to have argued over the music that was being played, police said at the time.

Mosley was hit once in the left side of the stomach and spent a day in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

Owens was arraigned by Russo and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bond, police said.
