Infant's death investigated

The death of a 4-month-old boy who stopped breathing while in the charge of a Brookfield day care is being investigated by the Trumbull County Coroner's Office.

Jackson Davis of Austintown, Ohio, stopped breathing Feb. 6 at Peas in the Pod Daycare, 6900 Cherry St. S.E., Brookfield, and died the next week at Tod Children's Hospital, Youngstown.

Trumbull County Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of death, which takes about eight weeks for results.

Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Faustino said police and fire crews were dispatched at 12:17 p.m. Feb. 6 to the center.

Police took over cardiopulmonary recusitation until paramedics arrived. The baby was transported to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System and later to Tod Children's Hospital, Youngstown. He had been on a ventilator.

Police haven't uncovered any negligence at the center and are awaiting the coroner's report for a cause of death.
