Religion prof selected to Heinz endowed chair

Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at Westminster College, was recently appointed to the Vira I. Heinz Endowed Chair of Religion, an endowed chair funded by the Heinz Foundation.

Dr. Rennie recently published several essays and reviews in professional journals, including, "Religion after Religion, History after History: Postmodern Historiography and the Study of Religions," published in Method and Theory in the Study of Religion. He also reviewed, "Journal 1935-1944: The Fascist Years," by Mihail Sebastian for the international journal, Religion.

Dr. Rennie wrote "Towards a Philosophical Anthropology of Religion: Reconciling a Naturalistic Approach to the Study of Religion with the Belief of the Believer," which was published in Origins: The Journal of Cultural Studies, in Romania and "Il n'y a pas un Solution de la Continuité: Eliade, Historiography, and Pragmatic Narratology in the Study of Religion" published in ARC: The Journal of the Faculty of Religious Studies of McGill University.

Dr. Rennie, who has been with Westminster College since 1994, earned his undergraduate degree, master's and doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
