Sewer rate changes might occur soon

Greenville sewer system customers may soon see some changes in their bills.

Greenville council Tuesday decided to advertise rate and fee changes for residential and industrial customers. The revisions will hike some rates and fees and lower a bimonthly fee that is based on water rates.

The proposal will be advertised soon, council President Pete Longiotti said.

The usage fee is 68 percent of a water bill, and council plans to lower that to 62 percent "because of how much the water bills in Greenville have increased lately," Longiotti said.

If the changes are adopted, the bimonthly connection fee for residential customers will rise to $39.40, up from $30.30, and the industrial sewage charges of $5.04 per employee will rise to $6.54 per employee.
