Man faces assault, DUI charges

A man who police said was drunk assaulted another man who yelled at him for speeding down a residential street, Sharon police said.

Police said they were called to the 100 block of Orchard Street for a fight in progress. When they arrived they said they stopped Douglas A. Dillon, 44, of 395 New Castle Ave., who was just driving away.

Witnesses told police that Dillon was speeding down Orchard where there were children playing and several adults yelled at him to slow down. Dillon screeched to a halt, threw the vehicle in reverse, quickly backed up and got out of his vehicle, police said.

Dillon then went after an 18-year-old Sharon man, police said. The pair had a scuffle but no one was seriously injured, police said.

Dillon was also yelling profanities, police said.

He was charged with drunken driving, simple assault, disorderly conduct and reckless driving, police said.
