Two Sharon policemen were injured Wednesday while arresting a Farrell man wanted on a warrant.
Police gave this account:
Shortly before 5 a.m., they saw Armond L. Holloway, 32, of 1147 Spearman Ave., walking at New Castle Avenue and Malleable Street and learned there was a warrant for him for failure to pay fines. When police tried to arrest Holloway, he pulled away, grabbed a policeman's arm and twisted it to break free.
Holloway ran and another policeman took him to the ground. Police pepper-sprayed Holloway and, after further struggle, were able to handcuff him.
Holloway had a cigarette pack on him that contained several individually wrapped rocks of suspected crack cocaine, a crack pipe and a metal push rod, police said.
One patrolman suffered a scrape and swelling above his left eye, and the other had pain and swelling in his right knee, police said.
Holloway was arraigned before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and the warrant.
He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $25,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. next Thursday.
