Shooting
leaves valley
man, 30, dead

A Farrell man died Sunday in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after a late-night shooting on the north side of the Ohio city.

Brian J. Brodie, 30, of 1023 Fruit Ave., was shot in the head outside the Buckeye Elks Club on North Avenue, according to WKBN 27 First News in Youngstown.

Another man, 39-year-old Sylvester Cox, was shot multiple times and claimed he was robbed of a watch and money, according to WKBN.

Brodie was the leading scorer on the Farrell High School basketball team during his junior year with 378 points and made 45 3-pointers, third best in Mercer County that season. He played only nine games his senior year, 1989-90, before departing the team.
