Frontiers Club to give awards

Mercer County Frontiers Club will hold its 29th annual awards program at 11:30 a.m. April 5 in the Radisson Hotel of Sharon, Shenango Township.

The Community Service Award will be presented to Robert Rice, Sharon, and the Showers of Blessings radio program.

Special recognition will be presented to minority high school graduates from Mercer County and Brookfield who completed a certificate, diploma or degree program in 2002.

Scholarships will be presented to area high school students.

Dr. Andrew Lee Jr., medical director of MedStar Physician Partners medical group in Washington, D.C., will speak. The West Middlesex High School alumnus is the son of the late Andrew and Tisher Lee.

Lee is board-certified in internal medicine and has received honors in recognition of his diagnostic skills.

He earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Grove City College, where he took part in Air Force ROTC. Lee earned a doctor of medicine degree in 1979 from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia.

Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased from members of the Frontiers Club.
