Art auction to benefit student needs

The newly formed Lakeview Educational Foundation and Lakeview High School Students for Charity will hold an art auction to raise money for the foundation April 5 in Lakeview High School cafeteria, 2482 Mercer St., Sandy Lake Township

Items will be available for browsing at 6 p.m.; bidding starts at 7.

Items for sale will include watercolors, oil paintings, lithographs and serigraphs by artists such as LeRoy Neiman, Norman Rockwell, Marc Chagall, Eugene Delacroix, Marc Rothenberg, Lena Liu, Wooster Scott and others.

Sports memorabilia also will be auctioned off.

Auction items will be provided by Marlin Art Inc., Deer Park, N.Y. Information: marlinfundraising.com

In addition to the auction, there will be an art show and music by Lakeview students.

Lakeview Educational Foundation, which is affiliated with Northern Mercer County Community Foundation, was created last year for donors who want to enhance the quality of life for students in the school district.

The foundation manages individual gifts and bequests as an endowed pool of assets, and distributes grants, scholarships and awards to recipients for humanitarianism, educational and alumni projects, student achievement and student needs.

A volunteer board of local community leaders is accountable to donors and the community, and oversees the foundation's administration and distribution of funds.

An admission fee will be charged at the auction.
