Winners are named in Business Olympics

Local high school seniors were among those competing Feb. 28 in the fifth annual Erie Business Center South Business Olympics in the campus in Cascade Galleria, New Castle.

The following winners were announced:

   » Accounting -- Melissa Garrett, first place, and Dan Krause, third, both Wilmington High School; and Chris McLaughlin, West Middlesex High School, second.

   » Business communication skills -- Amanda Rea, first; Maggie Leali, second; and Heidi Stafford, third, all West Middlesex High.

   » Business law -- Jackie Becker, first, and Lauren Swetlech, third, both West Middlesex High; and Marcus Smith, Wilmington High, second.

   » Business math -- Mark Slazinski, first, and Christine Lewis, second, both Wilmington High.

   » Computer application -- Colin Dean, Wilmington High, first.

   » Geography -- Alex Hines, Wilmington High, first; and Kim Kulka, West Middlesex High, third.

Jackie Becker, a West Middlesex High student, won the grand prize of a laptop computer donated by Szymanski Consulting.

West Middlesex High and Wilmington High tied for the overall high school championship.
