Local man pleads no contest
to theft, intimidation charges

A Masury man who pleaded no contest to charges of theft and intimidating a witness will be sentenced in May.

Robert A. Davis Jr., 24, of 7217 Stewart-Sharon Road, was arrested on March 11 for snatching his ex-girlfriend's purse and swiping $48. Charges of phone harassment and intimidating a witness were later filed against Davis after the 20-year-old Masury woman told police he repeatedly called her at her place of employment in Sharpsville.

In Trumbull County Eastern District Court on Thursday, Judge Ronald J. Rice dismissed the charge of phone harassment due to a stipulation of probable cause. The charge of intimidating a witness was amended to a first-degree misdemeanor.

Davis pleaded not guilty to all charges at his arraignment March 13, but on Thursday pleaded no contest and was found guilty, according to a court clerk.

Sentencing for charges of theft and intimidating a witness is scheduled for 11 a.m. May 1.
