Dairy princess urges others to serve county

By Maggie Moore

Hi. My name is Maggie Moore, the 2002-03 Mercer County Dairy Princess. I am the daughter of Ralph and Margie Moore. I am attending Penn State. I began my reign as Mercer County Dairy Princess on July 1 and will be crowning my successor in June.

Since being crowned, I have traveled many miles throughout Mercer County and the state representing the dairy industry and the hardworking families who produce the wholesale dairy products for the consumers to enjoy.

This year, my court and I have completed nine school promotions, four newspaper articles; six radio spots; three state events; 35 store/mall promotions; six non-farm promotions; 11 farm promotions; and 19 special events. As I reflect on the many people I have met and my many experiences, I realize I have so many memories to cherish. It has been a lot of hard work and dedication but what I have gained from the experience is momentus.

I encourage any girl, age 16 to 24, with a dairy industry background from Mercer County to seriously consider what a privilege it would be to serve their county as the dairy princess. We also have programs for girls ages 5 to 15 with a dairy industry background to help also. Anyone interested in these programs, please contact my chairperson, Heidi Minor, (814) 786-7003; vice chairperson Anita Werger, (724) 588-3667; or booking chairperson Tammy Hanna, (724) 475-2502.

Anyone interested in having an appearance of the dairy princess and her court should contact Tammy.
