Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts releases list of classes

Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, will host the following classes through May 24:

   » Tuesday evening ceramics -- 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays or 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $130 for members; $145, non-members.

   » "Exploring the Vessel" -- 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $130, members; $145, non-members.

   » "Let's Get Sloppy" -- 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, for 3- through 5-year-olds. Cost: $72, members; $80, non-members.

   » "Let's Get Sloppier" -- 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, for 6- through 8-year-olds. Cost: $72, members; $80, non-members.

   » "Walk with the Masters" -- 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, for 8- through 12-year-olds. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Watercolor for children -- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, for 7- through 10-year-olds. Students must provide their own watercolor pads. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Drawing for children -- 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays, for 7- through 10-year-olds. Students must bring their own sketch pads. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Ceramics for preschoolers -- 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursdays, for 3- through 5-year-olds. Cost: $85, members; $95, non-members.

   » Ceramics for kids -- 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, for 6- through 12-year-olds. Cost: $86, members; $95, non-members.

   » Oil painting for children -- 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, for 8- through 12-year-olds. Students must bring their own sketch pads. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Drawing -- 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, for adults and teens. Students must bring 18-by-24-inch sketch pads. Cost: $90, members; $100, non-members.

   » Portrait drawing -- 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, for adults and teens. Students must bring 18-by-24-inch sketch pads. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Conversational Spanish -- 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays, for those 18 and older. Cost, $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Conversational Italian -- 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 16 and older. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Italian II: Language and culture -- 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, for those 16 and older. Italian I is recommended as a perquisite. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Beginner French -- 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 16 and older. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » French II -- 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 16 and older. Beginner French is recommended as a perquisite. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Private voice or piano -- 30-minute sessions by appointment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, for those 10 and older. Cost: $135, members; $150, non-members for voice; and $108, members; $250, non-members, for piano.

   » Transparent watercolor -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays or 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $76, members; $85, non-members.

   » Oil/Acrylic painting -- 6:45 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 16 and older. Cost: $81, members; $90, non-members.

   » Sculpture I: Clay -- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $95, members; $105, non-members.

   » Sculpture II: Stone -- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $95, members; $105, non-members.

   » Portrait sculpture -- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $103, members; $115, non-members.

   » Photography I -- 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, for those 13 and older. Cost: $99, members; $110, non-members.

   » "Anyone can paint" -- 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. Fridays, for seniors. Students should bring two or three images to choose from for painting reference. Cost: $86, members; $105, non-members.

   » Drawing for seniors -- 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, for those 55 and older. Tuition assistance and transportation stipends are available for those in need. Cost: $86, members; $95, non-members.

   » Glazing for special effects -- 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, for those 55 and older. Cost: $103, members; $115, non-members.

   » Watercolor for seniors -- 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, for those 55 and older. Tuition assistance and transportation stipends are available for those in need. Cost: $85, members; $95, non-members.

   » Stained glass -- 9:30 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays, for adults. Cost: $103, members; $115, non-members.

   » Learn to analyze handwriting -- 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost: $81, members; $90, non-members.

   » Tai Chi -- 1 to 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, for those 18 and older. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Bridge, beginners -- 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, for adults. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Bridge, advanced -- 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, for adults. Cost: $63, members; $70, non-members.

   » Special effects glazing -- April 12, for kids; April 26, for adults; and May 17, for seniors, all noon to 2 p.m. Cost: $40, members; $45, non-members.

   » Drawing for the true beginner -- 1 to 4 p.m. April 12 or May 17, for those 18 and older. Cost: $31, members; $35, non-members.

   » Photo preparation and presentation -- 10 a.m. to noon May 10. Students should bring two or three sheets of matboard. Cost: $31, members; $35, non-members.

   » Fiber printing and toning workshop for photographers -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26. Students should bring five black-and-white negatives, one plastic resealable bag to hold an 8-by-10-inch print and a cotton hand towel. Cost: $40, members; $45, non-members.

   » "The History of Theater Costume, An Overview" -- 10 a.m. to noon April 12. Cost: $15, members; $17.50, non-members.

   » Painting pictures with music -- 10 to 11:30 a.m. May 10. Cost: $15, members; $17.50, non-members.

   » Learn to analyze handwriting -- 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Cost: $15, members; $17.50, non-members.

Students can register for any class, space permitting, up until the second class meets.

Tuition assistance is available for those demonstrating financial need.
