The Herald reopens office
in Grove City, add news staff

The reopening of a Grove City bureau and the addition of a reporter in Greenville highlight several changes in The Herald's news coverage team.

Effective today, Sherris Moreira-Byers, who has been a reporter since February 2000, will cover Grove City and surrounding areas, including the Mercer Area School District.

She will have an office in The Herald's sister newspaper, Allied News, at 201 Erie St.

She had been covering, among other areas, Hermitage commissioners and the Hermitage School District.

Amanda Smith-Teutsch, who joined The Herald last fall, will be reporting on the events of the Greenville and Jamestown area, including school districts, as well as other education activities. Her cell number is: (724) 813-4251

"We are pleased having Sherris in Grove City, having Amanda covering Greenville and Jeff Greenburg at the courthouse," said James A. Raykie Jr., editor of The Herald. "It's a major step as we aim to bolster our coverage of Mercer County."

In other changes:

   » Joe Pinchot, a 15-year reporting veteran, will continue in his role as writing entertainment news and activity of the Shenango Valley Merger Study Committee. However, he will switch to the Hermitage news beat from Farrell. His cell number is: (724) 854-5268

   » Larissa Theodore, who was hired in March 2002, will move from the Trumbull County beat, which includes Brookfield and other Ohio news, to the Farrell beat, where she will cover council and school board as well as news from the Reynolds area. Her cell number is: (724) 866-3109

   » Patrecka Adams, who was hired last week, will assume Ms. Theodore's previous assignment in the Trumbull County area, as well as cover news from the New Wilmington area and Wilmington Area School District. Her cell number is: (724) 866-8218

   » Kristen Garrett will remain as the Sharon reporter as well as write about West Middlesex, Shenango and Lackawannock townships and the West Middlesex Area School District. She also will be covering health issues. Her cell number is: (724) 854-5266

   » Lauri Galentine, a Herald correspondent, will cover Lakeview and Commodore Perry school districts and surrounding communities.

   » As previously announced, Greenburg, who has been with The Herald for 11 years in a variety of writing and editing capacities, will cover politics, county government and prison board, and Sharpsville, South Pymatuning Township, Clark and Sharpsville Area School District. All reporters will be covering trials within their jurisictions at the county courthouse.
