Police still probing crash
that killed ex-Greenville man

Pennsylvaania State Police in Girard are still investigating the traffic death of a former 21-year-old Greenville resident.

Jason Gruver of Edinboro, formerly of 8 Argus St., Greenville, was killed Monday after the car in which he was riding was hit by a school bus in Erie County, state police said.

State police said Tuesday they have nothing more to report about the crash.

A coroner's report was incomplete Tuesday, though Erie County Deputy Coroner Korac Timon speculated the cause of death to be head and chest trauma. The coroner's office expects to have a full report today.

Gruver, a 2000 Reynolds High graduate who attended Mercer County Career Center, was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Police said the driver, Joy Lynn Rizor of Utica, lost control of her car at 2:40 p.m. on snow-covered U.S. Route 6N in Elk Creek Township. The car crossed the center line and was hit by an eastbound bus, which was transporting a seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball team from Northwestern Middle School in Albion to a match at General McLane schools in Edinboro.

Ms. Rizor, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Some volleyball team members were also taken to Hamot, police said.

Hospital officials would not release Ms. Rizor's condition Tuesday.

Obituary information was unavailable.
