Residents warned against city couple charged with solicitation

Sharon police are urging residents to beware of people in the area who may be panhandling or attempting to get people to hire them to do odd jobs.

Corky Ely, 47, and Millie Ely, 41, both of 632 E. State St., Apartment 33, Sharon, were charged with solicitation at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday at East State Street and Buhl Boulevard, police said.

The Elys were approaching citizens and businesses and asking for money, police said. The couple were also inquiring about apartments and offering to do work for people such as paint their cars, police said.

Police said they urge residents to call them immediately if anyone approaches them to do work or asks for money.
