Auditor General Casey to speak
May 15 at local consumer forum

Auditor General Robert P. Casey Jr. will speak at a consumer forum May 15 at the Shenango Valley Center for Aging and Geriatric Health, Hermitage.

Casey will discuss the state's response to nursing home complaints, performance reviews for school districts, lottery management efforts, health care quality, and guarding pension and investment funds.

Casey, who is in his second term as auditor general, has worked to be an advocate for working families, children and older residents. He has strived to save taxpayers money and make nursing homes safer, school districts more efficient and child care more affordable.

At the forum, Beth Silvaggi of the Pittsburgh office of the Better Business Bureau will discuss consumer fraud.

The forum opens at 10 a.m. with registration. A buffet luncheon will follow opening remarks, and Casey will be available to meet constituents at 11:30 a.m.

Casey will speak at 12:15 p.m., with Ms. Silvaggi talking at 1:30.

Forum coordinators are Carmella A. Ansinger, director of the Greenville Area Senior Community Center, and Joyce Blanke, vice president of operations for Mercer County Community Action Agency.
