Pa. prison chaplains meeting set here

Pennsylvania Prison Chaplains' Association will have its spring regional meeting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the State Regional Correctional Facility, Findley Township.

Fifteen to 20 prison chaplains, including contract and volunteer staff, from county and state agencies are expected to attend, to learn about issues pertaining to the role of chaplains in corrections.

According to a news release, the organization seeks to secure unity of action and programs in religious services in all Pennsylvania prisons, to elevate standards of religious programs in correctional facilities, to improve chaplains' effectiveness, to maintain harmony and cooperation between chaplains and superintendents and wardens, and to work in cooperation with Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and Pennsylvania Prison Warden's Association to develop and deliver pastoral care and religious services.

The organization serves an interpretive and advocacy role for prison chaplains and provides a forum for fellowship and support among correctional chaplains.
