Plans to sell the Greenville water works are flowing through the pipeline.

Two companies, Consumers Pennsylvania Water and Pennsylvania American Water, have expressed interest in submitting a deal for the Greenville Water Authority, said authority board President Dick Miller.

"If all goes well, we may be getting deals in June," Miller said Tuesday.

Consumers has already met with water authority Superintendent Bill Brady to discuss the plant, system and other operations of the authority, which supplies water to Greenville and part of Hempfield Township.

Pennsylvania American Water has scheduled a meeting with Brady on May 6 to discuss the same information.

Miller said he expects proposals from both companies to come in at the same time.

For some time, the authority board has been considering the sale of the water works and has discussed several options. Among those are joining with other water plants along state Route 18 to form a regional authority or selling the system to a private company. No price range has been named for the authority's assets.

Authority board members could choose to do nothing at all, Miller said.
