Parole check lands man in jail

A Sharon man was arrested after he ran from probation and parole agents during a routine check.

Lewendo L. Teague, 31, of 244 Mesabi St., ran from the agents when they went to his home to check on him late Tuesday, police said. The agents and police chased Teague and caught up with him in the 200 block of Malleable Street, police said.

Teague fought with police and the parole agents, police said, adding they found drugs on him when they caught him.

A search of Teague's home turned up 50 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, two prescription drugs, $600, mobile phones, pagers and an electronic scale, police said.

Teague was arraigned Wednesday before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, on charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and a parole detainer.

He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. May 8.
