Clandestine
adventure
lands 2 boys
in pizza pickle

A Farrell teen was cited after backing into a car and a Pizza Hut, then running away, at 9:08 p.m. Monday, police said Friday.

The 17-year-old boy had gone to the Pizza Hut, 400 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, as a passenger in a car driven by a friend, police said.

The friend, also 17 and from Farrell, borrowed his aunt's car without telling her, and had a learner's permit, meaning he can drive only when accompanied by a licensed driver, police said.

The friend allowed the boy, who does not have a license or a permit, to drive, and he got spooked by another car while backing up, police said. He hit the gas pedal and backed into another car and then the pickup order door of the restaurant, police said.

The boy ran and was caught by police near Morefield Cemetery, police said.

The boy was cited for driving without a license and hit-and-run, police said. His friend was cited for driving to the restaurant on the learner's permit without the presence of a licensed driver, police said.

The restaurant closed up for the night after the crash, but re-opened the next day on time, and repairs should be completed soon, a Pizza Hut supervisor said.
