Rape case headed to court; man still jailed

Charges against a Mill Creek Township man who is accused of raping a woman at her residence were held to court BY District Justice Ruth M. French, Mercer.

Arther S. Tarleton of 534 Klein Road, who is being held in Mercer County Jail after failing to post $35,000 bond, was charged April 12 by state police with rape, sexual assault and indecent assault.

According to the victim, police said, Tarleton had been drinking before he arrived at her home April 11.

They argued most of the evening, according to the victim, then at about midnight he walked over to the couch where she was lying, made threats and ripped off some of her clothes and assaulted her, police said. Tarleton ignored her pleas to stop, police said.

Police said they saw marks on the victim's body the day she reported the assault.
