A new gas station is coming to Hermitage. Michael Magnotto, president of Magnotto's Shop 'n' Save, and Duncan Oil Co., Monday received a special exception from the Hermitage Zoning Board to build a gas station next to his supermarket. The zoning board unanimously approved the station to be located at 2199 E. State St. Magnotto told the board the station will have four islands with a kiosk in the center. The site previously had a gas station which was closed more than 10 years ago. Tom Maloney, a representative from Beaver Creek-based Duncan Oil, said the gasoline storage tanks would have computerized monitoring equipment and there are 100 similar stations in operation throughout the nation. Duncan Oil will act as the general contractor and the wholesaler for the fuel. Zoners also unanimously approved a sign variance to allow Magnotto an additional 39 square feet of signage fronting East State Street. After the meeting Magnotto said the new station would probably have four or five pumps. He declined to say when he plans to open the station. |
