A Hermitage man accused of beating a boy April 28 will face the charges in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Thomas R. Metz, 19, of 219 Fairmount Drive, Hermitage, was charged by Hermitage police with simple assault and harassment. District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held the charges for court at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Metz pushed the boy, wrestled him to the ground and punched him in the face three times in the gymnasium of the National Guard Armory, 740 N. Hermitage Road, police said.

Metz is free on his own recognizance.
