A Sharpsville native and former Shenango Campus student, George Allen, reflected on his experiences with the military and his memories of Pennsylvania State University, his alma mater, while in town to speak at commencement at the Shenango Campus.

Allen recently retired as deputy commander of the defense supply center in Philadelphia, after 32 years of working with the federal government. He is also an Army veteran and has received several awards for his service.

Allen graduated from Penn State in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and in 1974 with a master's in public administration.
