By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Armed Forces Day, held the third Saturday in May, is a day many people set aside to honor those serving in the armed services. For many who attended the Shenango Valley Operation Homefront's "Welcome Home Dinner" Saturday, Armed Forces Day 2003 is one that they will not soon forget. That's because the organization, in conjunction with the Wheatland American Legion, threw a communitywide gala to salute the members of the 99th Regional Support Command's 347th Quartermaster Company, who were mobilized in Fort Dix, N.J. More than 100 company soldiers returned Friday evening to Pendel-Caminiti Army Reserve Center in Farrell after being sent to Fort Dix in March. Company soldiers completed six weeks of predeployment training in preparation for possible wartime delegations. |
