demonstrate talent By Amanda Smith-Teutsch Herald Staff Writer
Young artists, many of whom have never been able to see the instruments they play or the art they produce, put on a spring recital Sunday at the Keystone Blind Association on Stambaugh Avenue in Sharon. The kids, from all over Mercer, Crawford and Lawrence counties, performed dances, read poetry they'd written and played instruments as part of the recital. Keystone's Keystone Kids program offers art and music opportunities to children who are visually impaired, said Keystone CEO Jonathan Fister. "As far as I know, we are the only program in the region that offers services to children," Fister said. The program, he said, gives blind children the opportunity to meet others who are blind, and gives them a chance to socialize. |
